How to Enable Multiple Keyboard Languages in macOS Tahoe
macOS Tahoe (macOS 26) supports multiple input sources, allowing you to switch between languages instantly. Here’s how to set it up.
1. Add New Keyboard Languages
- Open Apple menu → System Settings.
- Select Keyboard from the sidebar.
- Under Text Input, click Edit.
- Click the + button.
- Choose the language and keyboard layout you want.
- Click Add.
After adding languages, the Input Menu appears in the menu bar automatically.
2. Switch Between Keyboard Languages
- Menu Bar: Click the language icon and select your input source.
- Keyboard Shortcut: Press Control + Space to switch between the last used languages.
- Cycle Through All Languages: Press Control + Option + Space.
- Use the Globe/Fn Key: Set it under System Settings → Keyboard to “Change Input Source.”
How to Use Multiple Languages in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Microsoft Office uses macOS input sources for typing, but it also has its own language tools for spell check and proofing.
1. Add Languages in macOS First
Office detects languages from macOS. Add them under:
System Settings → Language & Region → Preferred Languages → +
Restart Office apps afterward so they recognize the new languages.
2. Enable Automatic Language Detection
Outlook
- Open Outlook.
- Go to Edit → Language → Language.
- Check Detect language automatically.
- Click OK.
Word / PowerPoint
- Select the text you want to set a language for.
- Go to Tools → Language.
- Choose a language or enable Detect language automatically.
